How we can help

Tutor training

Great tutors can come from a variety of academic backgrounds. Tutors who do have teaching qualifications might have been out of the teaching workforce for some time, and/or have not been involved in small group tutoring before. It’s important that tutors have the opportunity to quickly understand the latest evidence-based strategies on engaging and instructing student learning in this format.

The Tutor Network’s two-day initial training program and ongoing professional learning will provide essential training in subjects including:

  • the difference between teaching and tutoring

  • student engagement and wellbeing strategies

  • evidence-based pedagogy, diagnostics, activities and resources in literacy and numeracy

  • how to effectively support and engage with classroom teachers on student progress.

All training has been developed by subject matter experts and practitioners. It is provided online, for free, for anyone who registers.

Those who register will also receive monthly updates throughout 2021 as new insights emerge in how to make tutorials most effective across different contexts, year levels and subjects; and will be invited to join a moderated, online community of practice where tutors can help tutors.
